Frequently Asked Questions
Scott Stewart/Associated Press
How did The Man in the Mirror Project start?

A group of "This Is It" ticket-holders saddened by the King of Pop's sudden passing initiated the
project to honor Michael's life and to express their appreciation of his philanthropic work.

Why is the project titled "The Man in the Mirror Project"?

The lyrics of Michael Jackson's hit "Man in the Mirror" emphasize individual accountability to assist
the less fortunate.  The song begins with the declaration: "Gonna make a change, for once in my life.
Gonna feel real good -- gonna make a difference..."  The song continues to describe poverty and
misfortune in the world, asking "Who am I to be blind, pretending not to see their needs?"

In the end, Michael determines that making the world a better place starts with taking personal
responsibility "because when you close your heart...then you close your mind'.

Why are "This Is It" ticket-holders particularly encouraged to make a donation?

Ticket-holders include some of Michael's biggest fans.  Many will receive a refund for the cost of
their tickets, placing them in a unique position to make a donation.

Vendors sold approximately 800,000 tickets to Michael's much-anticipated shows in London.  The
value of the ticket refunds will approximate $85,000,000.  Imagine the impact of $85,000,000 in
charitable contributions.  What better way to remember and honor Michael's life?  We believe that
Michael would have appreciated the gesture.

Do I have to be a "This Is It" ticket holder to make a pledge?

No!  All fans wishing to honor and celebrate Michael's life may pledge to one or more of the
charities which Michael supported.
